wiss. Mitarbeiter, Abteilung Banerjee

I am a US-based visiting lecturer in American Studies. I studied 20th and 21st century US literature at Middle Tennessee State University before completing my PhD at the University of Mississippi, where I focused on the intersections of race and environment. My dissertation, Myoptics: The Aesthetics of Insularity in Neoliberal Film and Fiction, considers the modes and effects of representations of racial myopia since 1980 and artists’ use of space to critique shortsightedness in terms of race—issues and ideas I continue to explore in my current research.

I have taught several research and argumentative writing courses as well as courses surveying US literature since the Civil War. I have also worked as a one-on-one writing consultant for graduate students and as a prison book club host for the Mississippi Humanities Council. Currently, I am teaching courses on Academic Writing and Cultural Studies.
