Nora Elnahrawi, M.A.

wiss. Mitarbeiterin, Abteilung Banerjee

I am a PhD candidate in Professor Mita Banerjee’s team at the Obama Institute for Transnational American Studies. I hold a B.A. from Cairo University and an M.A. from Johannes Gutenberg University.

My research focuses on geographies of empire in Arab and Arab American diasporic texts, situating environmental elements as critical agents in narrating and inscribing history. I currently teach Cultural Studies I, an introductory course that examines key cultural, social, and political developments in American history (ca. 1500 to ca. 1860s).

My research interests include Indigenous literature, ecocriticism, memory & trauma studies, and postcolonial studies. I am also particularly interested in teaching courses that align with these areas, especially those focused on Arab American literature and cultural memory in the near future.
